Fresh Apple Crisp

A great big thanks to my aunt and uncle who graciously allowed us to pick fresh apples from their trees at 10:00 pm last Saturday night!  These apples have unbeatable taste and a fantastic texture for baking.  Last year I made low-sugar apple sauce with apples from these trees, and it was delicious!  I hope to pick enough apples to do the same this year.  However, this week we have used the apples we picked Saturday night to make apple crisp.  It is very satisfying to go pick the fruit straight from the  tree, flake whole oat groats in my own kitchen, and put together this marvelous fresh-fruit crisp for my family!  What a blessing!
